In 2020, I co-founded tlp with three of my PhD colleagues from the arts administration, education and policy program at the Ohio State University. Together, we started on a collaborative research journey to connect and motivate each other during the pandemic. Our 2021 exhibition marked the beginning of an arts-based research collective. We were motivated to expose the messiness of the research process to public witness and invite visitors to explore, experience, and engage in the research process with us. In 2022, trace layer play expanded as a collective with nine AAEP M.A. and Ph.D. students co-creating a sustainable research community. Expanded to 14 members in 2023, AAEP includes both graduate students and alumni from AAEP M.A. and Ph.D. programs.

"Use this space to grumble.. to complain. NO, I did not mean complain, I meant identify problems and provide feedback"
"As a dear friend always reminds me: it's not complaining. It is problem identification. As a designer, that really resonates with me"
"The social manifestation of identifying problems is complaining..."
"All them are insights into our humanity and a chance to connect, support and be there for each other. Hopefully, they are seeds to community"
